Greetings Noise Crew and Visitors. Hope y’all had a fabulous Christmas and have a wicked New Year. The Sounds of the moment in the nost8ment ‘office’ are those of Pink Star, Baron Bum Blood, Guanoman and various random hip-hop things that we have acquired. Fridge Magnet are recording things, T11/Skunks have already begun work on new material having recently acquired ‘the power’ in the form of a large blue machine. Smallville Flash’s CD will be out early next year along with new things from Baron Bum Blood.

Obviously, while we’ve all been eating leftovers, acting up and making strange sounds an awful lot of people have not been having a good holiday..so please, please do something to help the people affected by the tsunami. You can donate online via the Disasters Emergency Committee website, or through many other appeals. We know that there is always something bad happening, but this is so harsh that we have to do something. Might not be the kind of thing you’re expecting to read on this site, but we’re not all noise, noise, noise so please donate whatever you can.

Have a noisy New Year, love and feedback, Mav & Nost8ment xxxx

15/12/04

Just in time for Christmas, which could be useful if you want to give people something they won’t like..THIS IS NOT A TEST, as in the new Skunks/T11, but under the name T11, album is out now. Get in touch if you want a copy..£4/trade, another full CD in that Fridge Magnetesque value for money style you’ve come to expect, or not as the case may be. Website updates, MP3 single and all that stuff to follow shortly..

10/12/04

Skunks/T11 ‘This is Not a Test’ is now scheduled for release next week..NOT on the Monday, because we don’t do things like that, but soon..£4 or trade..get in touch if you want one..there will be an MP3 single as well, but it’s not 100% decided which track it’ll be yet so watch this space..

LOADS AND LOADS of photos of some of us at ATP, Peaches, The Fall, Throbbing Gristle (although there’s only 1 due to an incident involving batteries, more might be coming..), Lightning Bolt, Trail of Dead, Liars and Sunn 0))) are online now for your viewing pleasure..hit the images link at the bottom of this page & then click on NIGHTMARE BEFORE XMAS..there’s some new stuff in the random images bit as well..most of which can’t be explained..it’s just like that..and that’s the way it is..

8/12/04

As of right now..T11’s ‘This is not a Test’ is being manufactured and should be with us very soon. Check out the link to Baron Bum Blood’s official site for BBB news..he’s been doing shows and all sorts. We should be releasing something lovely from Smallville Flash early next year, plus there is new stuff to come from BBB and possible others?! Last weekend 3 of the nost8ment ‘crew’ were in Camber Sands with Hunting Lodge, Jax, Gav, and Mat from Off The Rails..for All Tomorrow’s Parties which was rather good indeed. Photos to follow asap. There will be more and more MP3s on here over the next few weeks, so if you haven’t heard certain things then you will be able to do so, for free, because we’re nice like that.

Some of our irregular visitors may have noticed they are unable to join the forum. What a personal disaster. Think you’ve been advance-barred for no good reason? E-mail us and tell us why..

9/11/04

Hey..hey, hey, hey..THIS IS NOT A TEST..the 4th T11/Skunks album is being ‘manufactured’ right now, so we should actually have some ‘in stock’ in about 3 weeks time. Slow progress, but progress..as for the 7 inch, there’s going to be a meeting type thing, and it’s going to get done, it’s about a year late already so what’s a few more months?

Within the next few weeks nost8ment should be more..active..the plan is to get as much old material as possible on here for download, and make more future releases available online. For those without broadband the CDs will still be available of course.

Question: do we really need a guestbook and a forum, or neither, or both? I don’t know..you decide..

18/10/04

So, yeah, releases to come from Baron Bum Blood, T11 and that ever so slightly very much delayed 7 inch..by the end of the year. T11 and Fridge Magnet are creating something akin to a studio at the moment, which will also be the new home of nost8ment itself.

In case no-one noticed we have a guestbook now..for no real reason, but if you can’t be bothered to join the forum or e-mail us, you can make your thoughts known there..although if you happen to be one of the people who lack the basic level of intelligence necessary to criticize us in an interesting way, please do not bother. Well bother if you must, but bear in mind that your opinions are of no interest to us whatsoever.

15/10/04

Hunting Lodge (see below) are playing TONIGHT (18th October) at 93 Feet East which is in Brick Lane in London..go and see them if you can..

NOST8MENT has moved to Brighton, leaving presences in Birmingham, Romford and London on the way, the cardboard box has landed somewhere near the Free Butt and intends to be fully operational soon. We will be releasing things, several things, T11, Baron Bum Blood and that almost a year late 7 inch of course..

Some of you may remember that we were involved with Noise Annoys in Soho last year, at which the excellent HUNTING LODGE played. Well, we saw them last night at the Free Butt and they have turned into something even more amazing than what they were a year ago..check their site for forthcoming gigs..also recommend you look out for CREEPER & FRIGHT and YEBOROBO should they be in your area, or you in theirs. Also we’re rather liking SAME ACTOR at the moment.

Baron Bum Blood played at Colchester Arts Centre recently but we forgot to tell anyone on here..but what I can say is that SMALLVILLE FLASH can be seen at Pacific Edge in Romford on 27th October, and are playing Downstairs at the Garage (London) on 14th January as part of DNA3..and they are recording soon..

30/9/04

As of today..1st October..new forum is up and running, yes it's another free one, but you don't need a yahoo ID for it. epunks is still there, and best place to upload pictures or anything..but this new thing was tested out last night by some of the noise crew..go forth and TALK HARD

I know we go through periods where nothing on this site is updated and you might think we’ve stopped bothering, but it usually means those involve din the website are busy making noises or something. There’s been a few changes recently, however, not that I expect anyone to have notice..more regular news type stuff..check..random ranting and the like masquerading as news..check..re-orgnaised news archives..check..ever-expanding images section..check..and TODAY..a quick review of our content, mainly regarding the links. Now links pages are funny things, because the more you have on them the more chances are half the websites have disappeared. So, the prudent website would check this regularly, which doesn’t happen with us..but now it has, and there’s been a small cull..I’d like to say what happened to those sites but I have no idea whatsoever. You get websites that say, ‘hey! Wanna exchange links!..then e-mail us’..and you do, and they never reply. So I’m re-stating our linkage philosophy right here right now..we generally will e-mail people and tell them we want to add a link to their site, and if they don’t reply then I assume it is okay with them..and if I ask if I can nick a logo to pin up on out ever so stylish random pinboard style links page, and they don’t reply, then I do it anyway..because if I think they are cool I want to tell people about them..so if ever you find a link upon this site, that you do not wish to be there, or we have in some way offended you by using your name, anything at all..TELL US..although we probably asked you when we did it..and if your link disappears..well I guess I don’t know where your site is and you didn’t tell me so..hey, shit happens..

T11 and Fridge Magnet have been up to more DJ antics in Sussex, causing Blatant Death, Girl’s Teeth and T11 to be heard by unsuspecting members of the public..apologies where necessary..On the subject of Girl’s Teeth..go and see them..because you should.

28/9/04

Ah yes..B-Day approaches..the B meaning Brighton..so expect nothing and then a lot once we’ve re-created the nost8ment offices in a new permanent location. Anyway.. So, Fridge Magnet and T11 were at the Junction on Friday night, behind the “decks” for want of a better word, and with apologies to all those “proper” DJs..had a great night, thanks to Matt for having us there, and note to the OTHER Matt – you see, Maverick can be trusted not to empty venues, but you knew that anyway didn’t you. Something was being discussed somewhere else, and this was said, and it needs repeating:

“labels don't have to big to release quality music. if anything tape labels and cdr labels and small indie labels are in a position to release better music because they have less overheads to meet, they don't need to release music that is guaranteed to sell volumes in order to make ends meet ....

all indie labels from the big uns to the medium ones to the small to the diy cardboard box labels have something to offer, and generally treat their artists with respect for their music unlike the majority of shareholder driven major labels. i for one (if i was actually in a band) would rather sign to a label like calculated risk or, organ or the like than ever ever sign to emi or someone. these small indie labels have the advantage of doing whatever they want but also having the distro network to actually get music 'out there'

nost8ment can't currently offer that, mainly due to a lack of time and effort than necessarily a lack of funds, but i believe that is the longer term aim - to reach that size,

people in bands seem to rate to often the quality of their music on the success that they get. but in reality success is often driven, in part at least, by advertising, who you know, and how you are promoted. not just (and sometimes not in the slightest) by the quality of the music. its true that big major labels can offer this, but in return they can reasonably expect a return on their investment - this can mean, and often does with majors, applying pressure on timing of releases, and the type of music or quality of a release or what songs should be used as singles.

what (most - there are those that are looking to make themselves rich!) indie/small labels do is cut through this crap and release music that they honestly believe in, regardless of whether or not anyone else in the world does or ever will.”

Thus spoke JT..and I agree. I’ve been saying all along, nost8ment isn’t here to provide massive distribution, marketing or great record deals. We’re still not a company, we don’t have a budget, we don’t have contracts. We’re DIY and that is all, but we do believe in the music we get involved in. We may grow in the future, but for now, if you understand us then all is well, and if you don’t..well that ain’t our problem.

24/9/04

Fridge Magnet and T11 are going to be DJing tonight (24th September), in between bands at the Junction in Burgess Hill, the bands being The Bad F**ks, Flaming Amy and Bathtime Fun! T11’s album is finished, and being duplicated and all that so it’ll be out soon, as will the seven inch..Nost8ment will, hopefully, soon be completing it’s move to Brighton, and will be running properly again as soon as that happens..so expect new stuff from Fridge Magnet as well. Oh, T11’s bit of the site has been re-designed..other than that..I don’t think there’s much else to say right now. Have a good weekend.

4/9/04

BREAKING NEWS STYLEE///the fud will NOT be playing in Birmingham on Sunday, we'll let you know when they have a new date..and phyllis, we hope to see you soon.. added..17/9/04

Gather round..okay, so we’ve been pretty rubbish so far this year. The 7 inch was originally planned for release at the end of last year, but we haven’t released it yet. This is going to be resolved very soon, once we have some artwork for it..I can’t even remember what the track I put on it is called, but hey, that adds to the excitement..In addition, the T11 album really will be coming out soon. There’s no excuses for it’s delay, just that I have been lazy recently. Part of the problem is that nost8ment is currently based not in one cardboard box, but in lots of them, and none of them are labelled, and the label itself is mixed in with all our possessions in a chaotic heap. Blame the builders..who should finish soon, which will result in the new nost8ment ‘office’, and fuck me, we’re getting broadband..oh yes, most people don’t realise but this site has been run almost entirely on 56k in the past..and quite frankly, it’s depressing.. We’ve also got release from Baron Bum Blood, Fridge Magnet and some others in the pipeline. Fudulike are playing in Birmingham this coming Saturday, we’re going so maybe we could review it or something..they also have a new album which will be available when it is.. Fridge Magnet are DJing at the Green Room in Haywards Heath tonight (Tuesday).. Oh..there’s been talk elsewhere of the underground, how bands and labels should support each other, how we’re all in ‘this’ together. Well, here’s a thought..no we’re not. Scenes can be so cosy, yet so naïve, so..local..so pointless..Being the number one crowd puller in your town is great, but it doesn’t mean you’re good. Some people get a little too big for their boots, a little too cocky given that, in reality they are nobodies. Be nice to people on your way up, you might run into them on your way down. Thinking of all the bands who refuse to help others out with equipment, people who you give gigs too and support when they pull out, who then turn round and start slating you for no apparent reason..There’s something appealing about loyalty, about friendship, about this not being a business..about supporting people who share your beliefs, attitude, passion, whatever it is..but doing it nice..being consistent..and if I want to be this inarticulate..well where else can I do it? What did I say, create your own scene and destroy it as it evolves…ignore that for the time being, unless your scene is so exclusive that it’s only you, in which case, that’s punk. Not that I can say punk anymore, for I have been reprimanded for using the term, and having my attitude and all sorts of things, but never mind, I’m not a punk, I’m a person..

31/8/04

We've just got back from Reading Festival which was fabulously muddy and wonderful..props to the Waffle admin team..the messiest campsite ever was a joy to behold. For those who were with us there are a fuck load of photos online in the images section..which may now need some explaining as there are 3 sections..we'll be adding an extra one soon which will act as a flyer archive, so any nost8ment people who can send us old flyers connected with anyone on the label would be cool. We had a random meeting with Barry Dirty Romford who told us amazing tales of mashed potato and sausage éclairs and Vin Diesel's scotch egg..and also found Jon from what was Ethedrine in the Carling tent which was cool.

T11's new album will be released very soon, and we should also have new material from Fudulike as we heard it in a field a few days ago and it's all fantastic. If anyone can get Hadleigh Ford's e-mail address we'd love you forever as he seems to have disappeared?? Baron Bum Blood have a new website which must be checked out, and those involved in the 7inch..we need to sort it out!!! Yes.

One thing we were pondering at Reading was how far should you go to get your message across..we saw the International Noise Conspiracy and it felt like the end of a teen movie..something like Airheads..but with a set length 'feel-good' moment. So, if that's your message should you be playing at festivals? Isn't it a tad commercial..shouldn't it be free? Don't get me wrong, we love Reading and the commercialism is just something we've come to accept in that context..but take the Dillinger Escape Plan, telling us they were the only good band we'd see..I don't think so - because Ikara Colt, 80s B-Line and Mclusky, the Kills and Peaches were better by a long way. (IMO, it's  subjective thing). If you don't believe in festivals..why play? I'm not dissing either band here but if anyone has an opinion..the forum could actually get used for once..haha. But really, if you're a  communist band..is getting signed and having loads spent on marketing and tickets and merch not..wrong? Or is it something you have to do to reach a wider audience and tell them what you believe? Anyway, enough of this thinking business..we saw some wicked bands and it's all good, and yeah..whoever said it..one year, a nost8ment stage..ah, we can dream..

28/7/04

Sorry about the lack of updates recently but certain people have been involved in certain projects that are of great importance..

ANOTHER ENOUGH CHAIRS (The Movable Death Quartet) will be playing at Pacific Edge in Romford on Wednesday 18th August. This will be one of waffleon's Shiznit nights and will be AEC's debut live performance..AEC involves two whole members of what was First Violence and no longer is, accompanied by one of what was/is Morose and the only one of T11..make of this information what you will..

Baron Bum Blood has been doing many things, the best place to find out what these are being the Baron's website..see the link to your left for more information.

T11's 'first' album "This Is Not A Test" is due out very soon. 15 tracks from what used to the be the Skunks will be available to order from us, hopefully by the end of July, maybe even before then.

The 7 inch isn't ready yet..when it is we will let you know..

5/5/04

Many thanks to all those who were at the Cauliflower last night for 'shut up'..unfortunately threemovements and smallville flash were unable to play for personal reasons and we wish them the best. On the other hand, those of you who were there will have seen Hadleigh Ford and we would like to say a big thanks to Mr Ford for joining us at the last minute. Hadleigh was followed by First Violence and Doomsday Apocalpyse Special. Pictures of the night are now online in the images section. More video footage was collected for the 'to be released at some point in the future' nost8ment video..

The forthcoming 7 inch release from Baron Bum Blood, Skunks/T11/Fatnick/Fridge Magnet and Pinhead Dwarf is progressing and should be out soon, along with new material from T11 and Baron Bum Blood.

First Violence's 'Happy Yellow' live bootleg is out and about right now..

Baron Bum Blood is playing at Colchester Arts Centre on the Weds 19th May..more info from Colchester Arts Centre (see links page)..

7/4/04

Nost8ment Sampler #1 has been reviewed by the vanity project..Sampler #2 should be out this year once the bands in question have recorded stuff for it..and don't forget..samplers are free from us..

We regret to advise that Blatant Death will no longer be playing at Shut Up on the 4th May..instead we will be bringing you approximately half of the band in the form of Doomsday Apocalypse Special..the more sensitive of you may wish to bring some form of ear protection..

We are in the process of getting Blatant Death tracks on line for those who have not yet heard them..more news to follow..

Pictures of First Violence playing at the Bull & Gate on 27th March are now online in the all new images section..which also contains pictures from Noise annoys plus some random stuff..

..and thanks to Paul W, Mark D and Mr Alex for their assistance with getting things on the site looking and working better..

Skunks are now called T11 as it says on the Skunks page..

Blatant Death, First Violence,Smallville Flash and special guests ThreeMovements (formerly Day FX/Machine Made Man) will be playing on 4th May at the Cauliflower in Ilford. More details can be found by clicking on the banner below..

19/3/04

If you can't wait that long for First Violence then they can be seen at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town on SATURDAY 27th March with Luxembourg, This Sudden Life and The Occupiers. FV are on at 9pm and if you get a flyer from us then you can get it for £4 rather than £5. Don't like that flyer? Here's another one.

Skunks are changing their name soon..details to follow..

Loads of news about Baron Bum Blood's recent activities can be found here.

23/1/04

Forget Girlfriend in a Coma  - the band are now called First Violence, have a new drummer, should be gigging and recording soon and are sounding brilliant..more details to follow and the First Violence page will be here soon with info about the band.

Blatant Death page and MP3s will be online in the near future.

A second nost8ment 'night' is being planned..venue, bands and date to be announced when we know them..

Eyes in Elbow TV in Pain has been slightly delayed but shouldn't be too much longer - which gives those of you without record players time to go and buy one..

THE END OF THE FREE CDs..well, it had to happen..as of now all our sampler CDs remain free - there will be more in the future. Please don't think we're trying to make money, we're not, and all our releases will be cheap but the free thing has to end - our bands need the money and profits will go to them. We hope you'll still support all the nost8ment bands and artists - we think they're worth something and hope you agree. We'll be bringing you more online releases - which will, of course, be free to download, and this will include full albums eventually, but if you want the actual 'product'..it's going to cost something.

nost8ment still believes in free music and we'll get as much as we can online, but due to demand we can't afford the future production costs unless we start charging. We hope this is understandable..

Possible Baron Bum Blood gig soon as well, which should be quite an experience..

In the meantime..

happy new year
