Definitions, genres and pigeon holes are not us..we've been asked what we mean by punk a few times..
the standard answer follows (no offence intended..) make of it what you will..
Fuck you and your definitions, pigeon holes and genres...we’re talking about something different here.
Throw aside the restraints the music press and history has put on you, this is the twenty first century and
punk isn’t as simple as you might think. For us, punk cannot be truly defined...it is more than music,
more than attitude. It is a meeting of ideas with sounds, it is constant change, it is not the past.
Forget about the three chord, “shocking” lyrics, predictable drum beats and shouting concepts...
unless they’re being used in a new way then that’s the past, that’s not innovation, that’s not challenging,
that’s not punk. It’s progressed, punk is guitars, punk is dance, punk is synths and samples, drums and bass,
feedback and mayhem, shouting and whispering, highs and lows...innovation, experimentation, sometimes melodic
sometimes atonal, sometimes harsh sometimes beautiful...it is not all about politics but for some that is what
they desire to express, others simply want to create music, sounds, noise...whatever it is, not easy listening,
not commercial radio friendly material, but not necessarily inaccessible...although it may be. It is about
doing what you want with music, not following but being inspired, not reproducing but producing...nothing is forbidden,
no instrument too normal or too strange, one person or an orchestra...challenge preconceptions...
play guitars with drumsticks behind the strings over excessive feedback and distortion fucking with programmed
rhythms, use ‘classical’ instruments, use home made instruments...whatever takes your fancy...
mix and match, cut and paste...innovate, challenge, inspire...Contradict yourself, let your music contradict
itself, contradict your music...do what feels right, what sounds exciting, what hasn’t been done before...
the process is as important as the results...enjoy it or do it because you have to...use you imagination,
don’t stay still, anything is possible. Wear what you want, listen to what you want, do what you want.
..push boundaries, accept others, teach yourself. Be inspired by the past but don’t try and clone it,
be yourself...whatever you’re doing do it well, or do it badly with passion, make a statement or just
make some kind of noise. Commercial success is not necessarily a bad thing, but it should not be your only goal..
.what happens happens...go with it...Listen to anything and everything, take ideas from one place and
meld them with others, DIY, make something that doesn’t play along with the definitions...open your mind,
open your eyes, open your ears...be prepared, react, create your own scene and destroy it as it evolves,
just do what you want and see what music happens as a result...this isn’t a test...

WHEN/WHERE CAN I SEE THE BANDS?
To be honest, the best thing to do is get them as your friends on myspace and pay some attention, in theory:
Gig dates and nost8ment events etc. will be on the front page of this site as and when they come up, but we are
lazy and it's hardly ever up-to-date.. Other than that, you can contact the bands themselves
